Marc O'Sullivan Vallig

Marc O’Sullivan Vallig is an artist, writer and curator from Eyeries, Beara.

His artwork has been exhibited at the National Gallery of Ireland and the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin.

Marc worked as the Arts Editor of the Irish Examiner newspaper from 2008 – 2014. He continues to write on the arts for the national media.

His first book, People of the Sea: A Maritime History of Beara, was published in 2020.

His second, People of Beara: From Dunboy to Waterloo, Iowa, was published in 2024. It features his original painting, Portrait of Dónal Cam O’Sullivan Beare, on the front cover.

Marc’s new book, The War of Independence on the Beara Peninsula, will be published this year.
